Scalding Tarn is one of the most played fetch lands in all of competitive Magic, seeing heavy use in Modern, Legacy, and Vintage formats. The Zendikar printing is the original and most iconic version, featuring the classic full-art land border style that collectors prize. Its role in fetching both Islands and Mountains makes it a staple in Izzet, Jeskai, and other blue-red strategies.

The Card Official's ruling

HOLD — Scalding Tarn remains a format staple but reprints in Modern Masters and other sets have kept prices suppressed; graded copies offer a modest premium over raw but demand is steady rather than explosive. The most played fetchland in Modern and Legacy — a staple in every blue-red strategy. Zendikar original copies command a premium over reprints. Fetchlands are the backbone of competitive Magic across every format and will never stop being played. Strong buy on original Zendikar copies in PSA 9.
